Now delving for the first time into the untapped riches of the former Yugoslavia, Stand Up, People presents the diverse and almost forgotten sounds of 60s and 70s Serbia, Macedonia and Kosovo, with nineteen tracks that highlight the flowering of Roma culture in that period.

Mahala Rai Banda proved on their album “Ghetto Blasters” that they were not only masters of hyper-fast dance tunes but also capable of a warm Caribbean groove called “Balkan Reggae”. “Balkan Reggae” found Mahala Rai Banda paying homage to their soul brothers in Jamaica. In the year that Jamaica celebrated 50 years of independence MRB embraced their Jamaican musical brethren by inviting several top Dub remixers like Mad Professor, Jstar and Nick Manasseh to give their Romanian Reggae tune a sonic turbo charge. 01/2013 --- Asphalt Tango Records making wild plans for 2013

The new year has only just started and our schedule is already packed with exciting projects: This March we’ll release Koby Israelite’s album “Blues from elsewhere” and a great bunch of Dub remixes of Mahala Rai Banda’s catchy tune “Balkan Reggae”. Later in the year Cigdem Aslan will present her debut album, also Oana Catalina Chitu is working on her second record. Stay tuned!

11/2012 --- Fanfare Ciocarlia invited to play at Nobel Peace Prize Concert 2012

The glamorous concert to honour this year’s Nobel Peace Prize laureate, the European Union, with Fanfare Ciocarlia, Jennifer Hudson, Seal et al. will take place in the Oslo Spektrum Arena on 11th of December.
