Heart Tones

The birth of their children inspired producers Philipp v. Rothkirch and Robert Cummings to produce a CD of international lullabies in 2011. Supported by the "Initiative Musik" of the German Federal Government, the second CD "Heart Tones - lullabies from around the world - Volume 2" has now been created with titles from 13 countries. Roughly 25 musicians from around the world, most of whom live in Berlin, recorded traditional and newly composed songs at the Hot Milk Studio in Berlin Kreuzberg. The listener can hear particularly soft and soothingly recorded sounds from Indonesia, Brazil, Iran, Ukraine, Italy and other countries. "Cross-border" features the masterful playing of the kanun by turkish musician Serkan Ky, which accompanies the singing of Australian singer Julia Messenger. Exciting sounds come from Mongolian overtone singer Hosoo, accompanied by traditional horse-head fiddles. Ukrainian singer Roksana Vikaluk, who has been living near Berlin for several years, delivers an epic piece full of marvelous surprises.
